As they say 'I'm back'

Well actually I have been back home for about 3 weeks now, but so much seems to have happened that I just needed a break without forming thoughts into written words.

I had a lovely time with Rebecca on our trip, instead of her leaving after one week, she stayed on and we enjoyed each others company and friendship.  Unfortunately there was rather a high level of stress during our time there, which I won't go into, but that was another reason for staying together. Like the two musketters

One afternoon Rebecca surprised me with a trip to a spa, where we enjoyed the facilities for just the two of us, along with a huge platter of fresh fruit and juices, then I was given the treatment of hot stone massage for the complete back of the body.  Well let's just say I whoffted out of there without a care in the world, delightful, if ever you have the chance do have a try.

I did have to pay extra baggage, (there's a surprise) but what with some good deals in Monsoon, along with toiletries and the must haves (like Marmite and coconut milk powder etc) it soon added up.  As I left, Rebecca continued on her journey to Hythe (Kent), enjoying a night in a very nice family B&B, to join her best friend and family, in the end staying nearly a  month.

I arrived home in time to tweak patterns etc for the craft afternoon at the Cancer Care shop, but unfortunately no one turned up which was such a shame.  However I had no control over advertising etc and I really think that was part of the problem.  Still you don't know until you try.

This last week seems to have sped by too, first Rebecca asked for my help in making a special 60th birthday cake for Antoni's Mother.

Then quite out of the blue we received a booking for a 65th birthday party in Gata de Gorgos, so it was all systems go packing up the equipment ready for the gig.  This was the first one since hubby's accident, every one was up dancing and it sounded brilliant and his hand held out really well.  So more bookings from now on!  then my usual morning in the shop followed by a very nice lunch at Rebecca's whilst helping her with the domestic chores. Making decorations for presents, then wrapping birthday presents for Rebecca, I do like to personalise them with flowers or butterflies, hiding sprinkles etc

Wednesday saw me making another birthday cake, this time for Rebecca, finishing just in time for hubby to take the cake to the restaurant before Rebecca arrived.  We had a lovely lunch, sharing the fun and cake with the locals, super day all round.

Thursday afternoon we followed Rebecca back down the mountain, heading for the beach in Javea, where we enjoyed a cool drink by the gently lapping sea.  Then Rebecca and I went for a paddle in the sea, it is really shallow for a long way out and so it was so warm, we collected shells, had a giggle and stored memories.

Today! well it had to be a chill out day, a little bit of crochet sitting in the Naya, it was 31C in the shade, the pool is getting up to temp so I wonder what the weekend will bring.

Enjoy your weekend, where ever you are and what ever you are doing.
take care

  1. Hello Chrissie
Well you've come back to the heat! I don't know if it is a little cooler where you are but it is certainly sticky here in the city!

I think I read in a previous post you were visiting Exeter. My mother was bought up in Exeter and it is one of my favourite places at home. I dislike cities but Exeter is big enough and small enough for me. I always try to get into Exeter for a good shopping visit when I'm back in Devon and to have lunch on the green in front of the cathedral.

    keep well

    Amanda :-)

    1. Yes it's hot here, yesterday we were about 31C in the shade, but we do have a pool so we can cool off.
Funny you mention the green, that is just what we did, took a picnic and enjoyed just sitting people watching. Ver popular place. We were a little disappointed in the shopping but it did give us a good comparison on prices.
We also visited Herbies, a little vegetarian restaurant near BHS, lovely food, very filling, certainly recommend it on your next visit.

I had a farm, B&B guest house near Rackenford, Tiverton, certainly dont miss the rain! lol
      Have a great weekend xcx

  2. Lovely to catch up on your last few posts - life gets in the way sometimes and puts us behind. Sounds like you have a good time away with Rebecca. Lovely to hear that Chris the booking and that his hand was good for the whole time. Hopefully that is something else to put behind you now.

    1. Thanks Marilyn, your right about life, sometimes you just have to let things go a little, take a breath then come back fighting. there is another day tomorrow, we all put ourselves under pressure at times, I think they should just dish out chill pills lol
We are delighted with Chris's progress, certain activities are still difficult but the main one, playing his guitar more than makes up for those.
Enjoy the weekend, take care xcx

  4. It sounds like you had a lovely trip recently Chrissie. I googled Javea as hadn't heard of it-wow it looks like the most fabulous beach. It would be lovely to actually see fish swimming around and the water must have been so warm-unlike Cornwall which never really warms up...you have to really be brave to wade in and swim! So hot again today but much traffic so will be staying in the cool of the garden. Hope you are enjoying your day Alison xx

  5. The beach is actually a man made one with all the sand, the next bay is quite rocky. It will be heaving in the next few weeks though. Javea is about 45 mins drive from us, Calpe is another lovely sandy beach and only about 25 mins away Mind you it takes us 15 mins to get down the mountain so it really isn't that far. We didn't really go to the beach whilst living in Devon, as you say the water was too cold, but used to love combing the rock pools on the Cornish beaches. Enjoy the sunshine xx

  7. Delighted to hear that hubby has fulfilled his first booking! Great news - hope he's back in the swing of things again soon. It sounds like you've had a busy and on the whole very pleasant few weeks. It is very hot here at the moment and I can't wait for the children to finish school so that we can all just relax and enjoy the summer. Axxx

    1. We can start advertising for him again which will be good. Keeping up with the watering of the pot plants in the courtyard is a bit of a mission at the moment, so hot,dry and windy. I'm sure the children are looking forward to their nice long break xcx

    1. Must admit I did feel a little deflated, but just one of those things. Definitely putting another one of those on my shopping list. Perhaps when we go back in August! xcx

  9. I'm sorry to hear that you had some stress whilst visiting, but I bet that spa day did just the trick. A shame about your craft session, as you say, it probably needed advertising better. It sounds like you've been having a busy time just lately so I can understand why the blog has taken a bit of a back seat since you've got back.

    1. Absolutely Jo, hit the mark, just a shame they wouldn't do an individual treatment for Rebecca, as they wanted 3 years clear.
Sometimes something has to give doesn't it? but then I suddenly think of something to say can't win! lol xcx
