When we bought our finca the bottom garden was full of algarve cactus plants, all quite mature and gradually over the years they have sent out huge flower stalks, quite spectacular, however once flowered the plant then dies, so we cleared the area ready to start a new type of garden.
They were also growing at the entrance to our drive, along the terraces, a couple of years ago one of them flowered and after chopping the stem down we stored it away.
I had an idea of turning it into some sort of garden feature (watching too many Garden Rescues I think)
At last we have done something with it, varnishing and making recess holes in the tops
A tea light holder
Personally I feel the tallest one is a little too tall, but its a bit late now unless we get the chainsaw out
These lengths are all from one stem and there is still another 5ft of small stem left
Shows you how tall it grows
take care

Useful too with the T lights as I put citronella oils in them to keep the mozzies away xcx

We might make a smaller one if we can get enough out of what is left of the stem xcx
